Loans for International Students at INSEAD

Wharton nailed it: http://blog.clearadmit.com/2009/04/wharton-finalizes-new-loan-program-for-international-students/

They are back with a bang as far as loans for International Students goes. They've shown us that they are indeed the premier school for Finance. I mean if you're a good school for Finance, you better be able to atleast finance a loan program for your students.

As far as INSEAD goes, still no progress on this front. INSEAD has teamed up with Prodigy Finance to offer some loans. And I guess, INSEAD does hand out scholarships to 20% of the students. Still, if INSEAD's a top 10 school, I have greater expectations.

I got my loan from Sallie Mae, but I had to scamper around like crazy. And no to mention the ordeal which several other people went through.

Thanks for writing this interesting blog! I've been reading your posts for a while now.

Sometime back you mentioned that if you were to do it again, you'd apply for Jan-Dec batch and apply to LBS too. Did you mean you would have chosen LBS?

I am an LBS 09 admit, and I also interviewed recently for INSEAD July 09 (waitlisted/rejected for Jan 09). Given the job scene, am thinking of dropping the idea of INSEAD no-internship batch. Makes sense right? I am honestly getting a bit scared from your recent posts ;)

@Subash: The reason I mentioned applying to LBS was two fold

1. For switching into Finance, some additional time would've been great and LBS is 18 months or so.
2. For the same reason, having an internship would've been great.

Nothing to be scared man. INSEAD is a fantastic school. If you're into consulting, then the chances of nailing Mckinsey, BCG, Bain, Booz etc. are really good from INSEAD.

But in any case, seems like you don't have an admit from INSEAD right?

Thanks for the note.

Yes, it is wishful thinking on my part. I was asked for re-apply after the waitlist/reject, so I hope I'll make it this time :)

Goodluck mate.

Good luck Subash. I would like to re-emphasize that in this crap economy, INSEAD's a much better school to graduate out of both for cost reasons as well as flexibility in location.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy to help.
